1.) Do you have to be some sort of rocket scientist to use the PATENT NERD™ D.I.Y. Application System?
No, the only thing you have to do is fill in some blanks in the forms we give you, and the PATENT NERD™ D.I.Y. Application System will do all the grunt work for you.
2.) How long is the DVD?
The DVD is approximately 2 hours long. However, most of the DVD goes over background information. The actual process of writing your application should take no more than 1 hour for most inventions. The filing process will probably take no more than 20 minutes or so as you file electronically with the USPTO.
3.) Do I really need drawings with my Patent Application?
Unfortunately, we cannot help you out there. The PATENT NERD™ D.I.Y. Application System does not do drawings. You can simply do a Google Search to find a Patent Illustrator. It may be possible to do your own drawings, but you really need to know what you're doing. You are strongely discouraged from doing your own Design Patent drawings. Even a lot of professional patent illustrators have difficulties with Design Patent drawings.
4.) I'm a new Patent Attorney/Patent Agent. Could I also use PATENT NERD™ D.I.Y. Application System to learn the ropes?
Yes, the PATENT NERD™ D.I.Y. Application System is sophisticated enough for you and your clients. Your new practice can use the PATENT NERD™ D.I.Y. Application System as the foundation, while you focus your efforts on other aspects of your practice.
5.) How long will the entire process take?
Actually writing your application should take no longer than 1 hour. However, once you file the Patent Application the USPTO response times average around 27-32 months. Sometimes, the first Office Action could come sooner or later.
